Charcoal Portrait Final by LisaCrowBurke Charcoal Portrait Final by LisaCrowBurke
This piece is 18x24, done completely in charcoal. Approx 30-40 hours total worktime. I really enjoyed doing this, it's one of my best portraits to date. Also.. it reminds me a lot of my late grandfather.. and that's a nice, personal thought for me.

See here for the size comparison shot:

The image was provided to me by the Academy of Art University for the purpose of education.

Thanks for looking!

Took me forever to do..but yeah. I look at this drawing and think the same thing all the time.

"Why am I not doing more stuff like this? What am I doing with my life???"

I'm working on fixing that... getting over a 2 week sickness so hopefully my motivation will come back soon!

your values give this a vary 3D feel one of the things that many artist have trouble with is this issue of value but not you and i commend you for having the coredg to get funky with your dark that is what makes for good drama and holds my attention
the detailing of the skin and fabrics brings a believable quality to your work
Good job and thank you for sharing
Paul

he reminds me very much of my grandfather who passed away a little over a year ago. it was sort of nice to do this drawing, and everyone in the family feels that same way about the drawing.

Any original artwork created from another reference image is not copyright infringement. If you were to use that actual photograph in some artistic collage without changing it in any way would infringe on copyright laws. All of the drawings, paintings, etc that you have done using an AAU reference are your original works! :)
