Hi all,
It's been a long time since I've posted on dA and I haven't been drawing as much due to some eye surgeries. However, I was inspired to make an attempt at #Inktober this year. "Inktober" if you haven't heard, is an artist's drawing challenge where you strive to make your inkwork better by practicing once every day in the month of October, potentially drawing in accordance to a list of "prompts" supplied by the artist Jake Parker, who is credited as starting the Inktober challenge.
I have certainly learned a few things:
- Dedicate time to draw every day and find a way to stick to it
- Your best drawings are the ones you'll want to put the most time into
- If following the "Inktober prompts", don't spend too long trying to come up with an idea
- When you can't come up with a prompt idea, draw whatever the heck you want
- Try not to fall asleep mid-drawing (there are inky consequences)
- Don't beat yourself up if you can't complete Inktober!
I really did intend to jump in on the Inktober craze and fulfill my destiny as one of the artists who made it all the way through the month.... maybe I'll start off slow and be happy with my (approximate) 50% this year and work my way up.
Without further ado, here are the completed sketches I managed to come up with this year:
01 - ring
02 - mindless
03 - bait
04 - snow (swapped prompt with "freeze")
05 - build
06 - husky
07 - enchanted
08 - frail
09 - swing
10 - pattern
11 - freeze (swapped prompt with "snow") this is a pokemon reference... shout out to my daughter for this one
12 - dragon
13 - ash (this is also a pokemon reference... shout out to my daughter for this one too)
